Our Story

Abbott Nursery School, Inc. was established in the fall of 1967 by a group of interested parents who wished to provide a wider range of choices for nursery school children. With the exclusion of day care facilities and the Laboratory Preschool at MSU, it was the only nursery school in the greater Lansing area which was independent, non-cooperative and professional.
Abbott Nursery School, Inc. is a non-profit, licensed school for children ages 2 years 9 months through five years old. The operation of the school complies with the regulations of the Michigan Department of Social Services. We lease our school facility from the All Saints Church and enjoy the freedom of having an independent program. All children are welcomed.
The program offers focuses on the development of the child's self awareness and self worth through exploration, creativity and investigation. The staff utilize the natural process of learning through play to present educational activities and experiences. Nurturing success is our goal!

Two experienced certified teachers and a teachers' aide per class

Per licensing rules, at least one staff member that is Red Cross trained and certified in CPR and first aid is on duty at all times.

Weekly pre-planned themes which incorporate activities such as art, music, literature, wood working, dress-up, a large assortment of educational play materials, large and small muscle exercise and daily outdoor time (weather permitting).
